SEVERE WEATHER PREPAREDNESS

Tornadoes

"Tornadoes are nature’s most violent storms. In North Carolina, tornadoes can occur with little or no warning at any time during the year. The peak season, however, is March through May."

"If you see a tornado coming, you only have

a short time to make life-or-death choices. Know the basics of tornado safety. Plan ahead. Hold an annual tornado drill. Doing these will lower the chance of injury or death if a tornado strikes your area."

GRANDVIEW PEAKS

EMERGENCY TEXT MESSAGING SYSTEM

The Grandview Peaks Neighborhood Watch maintains an emergency text messaging system that is used to notify residents of and about NOAA Tornado Watches and Warnings, and other emergency situations.

Important

You may not receive a text message for every Watch or Warning as there may be little time to prepare and send a message. It is therefore important that you also monitor severe weather conditions and take immediate safety precautions as warranted.
